something a little different

I wish I could take credit for this page, but I can't. One of my photo editing co-workers came up with this with one of our sports designers. I like it - it is different and an interesting way to tell this story. Last week, the Seahawk offense went to four receivers. So instead of using cut out silhouettes of each player and placing them on the page--- this is a clever alternative. I think it shows it takes collaboration, communication and teamwork to get the best results.

giants aren't so scary

The cover from the giants game. The Seahawks completely dominated for the first 3 quarters of the game. Prior to the game, there was a lot of talk about the noise level at Quest Field and if it is artifically pumped into the stadium. As I am learning here in Seattle, so much is about the 12th man.

One of our 4 inside color pages from the game.

seahawks, game 1

In a game that was decided on field goals (many of them blocked) - it wasn't a tough call that the main picture was going to be the game winning field goal. And that decision is made even easier when your photographer nails the shot.

the beginning

This was one of my very first sports sections. There was a little concern about the main photo. Some were afraid that it appears that he is naked and that we were showing "too much" The story was about the extremely low body fat percentage this player has. I think it works really well with the story. We had one reader call and say it was in "poor taste" but we also have had numerous reprint requests for it.
